With a VFD I doubt you would want the 2-speed feature anyway as the VFD does it for you. I've fitted 3-phase to a couple of mills using standard delta motors with ordinary VFDs and also fitted a Newton-Tesla pre-packaged unit to my Super 7 - but I haven't any direct experience of 2-speed motors. 0.75 kW frequency inverter with 220/230/240V AC 50/60Hz single phase input to three phase output, high start torque and high efficiency VFD, a phase. Just need an isolating switch and filter where the mains comes in, and a control pendant. All the control can be done by the VFD - start/stop, speed, reverse, soft start, e-stop etc. In this video I show my setup that I use to take 220VAC single phase household power and create both 230VAC 3 phase and 460VAC 3 phase power using a rotary p. Current Type AC Waveform Distortion Pure sine wave, THD <3Linear load Ambient Temperature -25+55 Celsius (oC) Display LCD Output Voltage 220/230/240/380/. It is rated for 440V (See my post11 to clear your confusion.) kwired Electron manager. This refrigeration compressor is not going to start with 220V single phase. Install double pole 220 VAC breakers (for their sizes, refer to the instructions manual). Check if the circuit is disconnected with a multimeter (sorry, but this is important). Disconnect the power from the circuit Step 2. The rating plate says it's 0.45kW 2-pole (2800 rpm) and 0.3kW 4-pole (1400 rpm) so a VFD rated at 750W (0.75kW) should be fine.įitting a VFD it is best to scrap all the switchgear between the VFD and the motor, you shouldn't be tempted to switch the motor when running with an existing contactor, it will instantly blow up the devices in the VFD. A rotary phase converter may be the cheapest solution if you already have a unused three phase motor sized to at least three times the FLA of the motor to be powered. Here are some general instructions for connecting your Rotary Phase Converter: Step 1. 15 hp VFD, Single Phase to Three Phase VFD. Is there a connection cover you can remove and get a photo of it? If it can be easily converted to delta then the neutral, the place where all the windings are connected at one end at the centre, would be accessible at screw terminals and/or have links. Bizarrely the lathe motor has delta windings and the mill head star!īut the real question is what the winding config is on your new motor.
